Organizational Description: Bravestone Centre provides women and their children affected by domestic violence with full-time counselling and support programs while living in the safety of our program. Women and children respectively attend regularly scheduled individual and group therapy and a variety of support programs. Women are assisted with advocacy and access to community resources. Families live on-site in Bravestone Centre furnished suites. The program premises are fully secured, confidential and camera monitored. Families continue their counselling through the Follow-up Program as they integrate back into the community. Bravestone Centre is nationally accredited through Imagine Canada.

Description of Duties:

Summary of Position:
The Special Events Committee of Bravestone Centre Inc. recommends, plans and implements activities and events with the goal of raising the profile of Manitoba's longest operating and largest second stage facility for women and children who are transitioning from violent intimate relationships. In addition to hosting special events the committee contributes to raising funds that benefit the families of Bravestone Centre.

Organizational skills including coordination through emails and in-person
Ability to meet with potential donors and sponsors
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Dedicated to achieving goals created by the Board of Directors
Professionally articulate Bravestone Centre's goals, strategies, and willingness to promote overall priorities responsibly with the public
Experience generating, organizing and promoting events for a non-profit is an asset but not required

Flexible Hours

Time Commitment:
Fixed Time: Special Events meetings are held at a pre-determined time, convenient for all members typically once a month. Communication between meetings through email or phone (as preferred) is expected. All regularly scheduled meetings are held on weekday evenings and members may be delegated tasks that will require time and effort between meetings.
Flexible Time: A varying degree of time and effort, as a group and individually, is required with an increase of hours as events near and can include weekday evenings or weekend days.
