Description of Duties:

Position Summary:


The Vice-President of Finance plays a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and direction of Pride Winnipeg. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this position is responsible for overseeing financial administration, business planning, and budgeting while ensuring the Organization's financial health and sustainability. The Vice-President, Finance collaborates closely with the Finance Committee and Board of Directors to provide strategic guidance and ensure financial best practices.


Duties & Responsibilities:


- Advise leadership on financial budgeting, cash flow management, and policy development.


- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with Pride Winnipeg's long-term goals.


- Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.


- Represent Pride Winnipeg in financial matters, including banking negotiations and external partnerships.


- Oversee bookkeeping functions, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.


- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with accounting standards.


- Maintain detailed and accurate financial records for all transactions and commitments.


- Manage financial accounting systems related to cash management, accounts payable/receivable, credit control, and petty cash.


- Review financial performance monthly, identifying variances and implementing necessary adjustments.


- Supervise the Finance Division, providing leadership, training, and ongoing feedback to staff.


- Oversee leases, contracts, and other financial obligations to ensure fiscal responsibility.


- Serve as a signatory on all financial accounts in partnership with the President.


- Approve and oversee all financial expenditures to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.


- Optimize resource allocation to ensure efficiency in time, budgets, and supplies.


- Stay current with financial accounting best practices, attending relevant professional seminars and workshops.


- Participate in committees and special projects as assigned by the President or Board of Directors.

   
Skills Required:

- Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (or former CGA/CMA equivalent).


- Minimum of three years of financial management experience, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.


- Proven ability to act as a business partner in organizational leadership.


- Strong analytical skills, with experience translating strategic visions into actionable financial plans.


- Demonstrated expertise in reviewing and refining financial policies and procedures.


- Experience managing financial operations for a nonprofit organization is preferred.


- Strong written and verbal communication skills.


- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships within a diverse team.


- Collaborative and adaptable, with a solutions-focused mindset.


- Hands-on leadership approach, committed to team development and continuous learning.
