Description of Duties:

Position Summary:


The Festival Programming Director is responsible for the planning, execution, and operations of Pride Winnipeg's programming, ensuring that all events are safe, sustainable, inclusive, and representative of the community's needs. This role oversees the Programming Division, ensuring that all event plans align with the organization's strategic vision. The Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and key stakeholders to deliver a high-quality festival experience.


Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Develop and execute Pride Winnipeg's strategic programming goals while ensuring events are financially viable, inclusive, and accessible.

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of festival programming, securing necessary permits, licenses, and insurance.

  • Manage entertainment, stage performances, and community-led programming while liaising with vendors, partners, and stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with the Finance Division to manage vendor applications, payments, and budget adherence.

  • Collaborate with the Safety & Accessibility Director to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all attendees.

  • Lead the Programming Division, providing guidance, training, and ongoing support to volunteers and team members.

  • Ensure seamless event logistics, from setup to tear-down, maintaining environmental sustainability and site cleanliness.

  • Approve menu selections and pricing for festival food and beverage services in collaboration with the Finance Division.

  • Assist in securing sponsorships, partnerships, and grants to support programming initiatives.

  • Provide reports on programming effectiveness, budget performance, and key event metrics.

   
Skills Required:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in event planning, project management, or festival programming.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing large-scale events.

  • Knowledge of event operations, logistics, and risk management.

  • Proven ability to develop and adhere to budgets and timelines.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience in contract negotiation, vendor management, and sponsorship activation.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment.

  • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusivity standards in event planning is an asset.

  • Experience in nonprofit or community-based event planning is an asset.

  • First Aid certification and Food Handlers certification are assets.
