Organizational Description: | The Leftovers Foundation is one of Canada's largest, tech-enabled food rescue organizations. We envision a world where communities come together and are engaged in reducing food waste. We reshape how our communities fight poverty, reduce food waste, and save our environment. Along with our volunteers, donors, and service agencies, we seek to fulfill our mission to reduce food waste and increase access in communities across Western Canada. The Leftovers Foundation recognizes that issues within our food systems are deeply rooted in racial, economic and social inequities. As an organization that strives to tackle these issues, we are committed to incorporating Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) in all the work we do, and that includes how and who we recruit to be on our team of volunteers and staff, along with providing them with ongoing IDEA training. |

Description of Duties: | It has been a busy start to the cold season for us at Leftovers and we would like to invite you to participate in our fundraiser, Coldest Night of the Year. CNOY is a winterrific family-friendly fundraising walk in support of Leftovers Foundation and will be held on February 22nd starting at 4:00pm, right down the street from our warehouse at Sergeant Tommy Prince Place. This event is a glimpse into what those experiencing homelessness face on a daily basis. Let's change the tune for people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness... because it's cold out there. Join us on February 22, 2025 - team up, fundraise, and walk with us! Description of duties will vary based on need during the event. We are looking for 12 team leads to help us raise funds and 6 volunteers to support the walkers and our staff during the event. Learn more about what we do by visiting our website at rescuefood.ca or find us on Instagram and Facebook. We are still only scratching the surface of what Leftovers could be doing in this city. We've got big plans for expansion in 2025, but we cannot do it without your help. Here's how you can participate: Team Captain - Anyone can be a Team Captain! This is someone who is passionate about Food Rescue and is willing to spread the word to their network of friends, family and colleagues. Team Captains register a team online, invite others to join in, raise money, and encourage their team to do the same, and make sure their teammates check-in and stick together on CNOY Day! Support a Team - For anyone interested in joining us for the walk, they can sign up to be a "walker". They can join a team or walk by themselves. These options are shown in the link below during the registration process. Walkers are encouraged to spread the word in any way they can to encourage folks to donate funds or join their team too. Volunteer - For those that are not keen to help raise funds but still want to help, we are looking for 6 individuals to be stationed at a "check point". You would be responsible for safety, well being of walkers, directing the crowd and keep them on route. |
