CCMB is responsible for providing care, treatment and support across the entire cancer service spectrum - from prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and care, and palliation or end of life care.

Description of Duties:

-Assist patients with wigs and head coverings


-Provide information to patients


-Provide clerical assistance to the Coordinator as needed


-Keep the room tidy


-Accept wig returns and donations and keep a record of these


-Brush and style wigs as needed


-Fill shampoo and conditioner bottles, restock supplies as needed

   
Skills Required:

It is helpful to have volunteers who have either experienced hair loss due to cancer treatment, or have supported someone that has experienced hair loss.


Individuals must have strong listening and interpersonal skills as well as a sensitivity to the needs of patients diagnosed with cancer.


Training is provided on how to offer services with a caring and supportive approach and how to provide fittings for wigs and headwear.

Time Commitment:
Daytime

Shift time: Tuesdays, 1-4pm


Volunteers in the Guardian Angel Caring Room commit to 1 shift (3 hours) per week.


Four training shifts are provided under the supervision of the Coordinator for the Caring Room
