Organizational Description: 24-hour info and support, and short term protective shelter for women who are experiencing intimate partner, gender-based or family violence. Other supports include: children's services, men's services, outreach counselling, follow up program, referral services, and and public education. Any person, any gender can contact Willow Place 24-hours.

Description of Duties:

Occasional pick-up of donations for delivery to Willow Place shelter or outreach locations (Winnipeg). Ability to call or email pick-up and drop-off locations (cell phone, email), and coordinate with donors and Willow Place staff.

   
Skills Required:

Reliability, good communication (written and oral), unconditional positive regard for others, able to lift and carry items up to 20 lb., patience, team-oriented, positive outlook, good judgment, active listener, resourceful, driver's license and reliable vehicle.

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

Ideal for those interested in helping vulnerable populations - health, mental health, community support worker. Skills gained include task coordination, organizing/prioritizing, communicating with diverse populations, understanding impacts of violence on vulnerable populations, understanding how violence prevention services help survivors with recovery and healing. Willow Place provides access to free adult and child abuse registry back-checks - for those accepted to our training program.
