Translation Support - Arabic and French

Occasional translation support on an as-needed basis for violence prevention shelter program (women and children), and for men's violence prevention services (community partnerships). Support could be in-person, by phone or virtual.

Flexibility, cultural competency, non-judgment, unconditional positive regard for others, resourceful, patient, good written and oral communicator, reliability, active listener, team-oriented, understanding of trauma-informed approaches to supportive community services.

Ideal for those with interest or background in social services, childcare and daycare, teaching, congregate living support, shelter services, psychology, sociology and counseling; women's and gender studies, family law or criminal law, policing, therapeutic health or mental health services; healthcare/nursing/medicine, community support work.

Skills gained include working with diverse, vulnerable populations, understanding of family violence and gender-based violence, understanding the impacts of violence, understanding how violence prevention shelters help survivors with recovery and healing; experience working with children and adults in a crisis setting.

Estimated commitment would be 4 hours monthly, on an as-needed basis. Adult and Child back-checks can be obtained at no-cost by those accepted into our training program.
