Request for Volunteer Board Members


Winnipeg-based Call for Hope is seeking volunteer board members to join our growing team.


Call for Hope is a newer non-profit organization that helps people new to Manitoba settle into the community with the tools they need to succeed in their new home. We help newcomers find a safe home and job, and assist them to complete immigration forms, applications, and filings. We help them with things like: work permits, job applications, citizenship applications, passport applications, filing income taxes, etc.


Potential board members must be willing to:



  • Meet with the existing board members via Zoom prior to the Board vote on including new members

  • Commit to a 2- or 3-year term

  • Be able to work independently, and in Board working groups


Currently, Call for Hope Board members:



  • Meet monthly via Zoom for board meetings

  • Work directly with Call for Hope clients

  • Work as a team to create funding opportunities

Skills Required:

Call for Hope is looking for prospective board members with the following backgrounds and abilities:



  • Have lived experience as a newcomer or newcomer to Canada

  • Be from the BIPOC community

  • Be culturally sensitive to the needs and barriers of newcomers

  • Be comfortable working with people whose first language is not Canadian English

  • Have one of more of the following backgrounds and experiences: accounting/bookkeeping, marketing, fundraising and event planning, youth engagement, volunteer management

  • Fluency in English and other languages, including French
