Organizational Description: The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's (WRHA) Community Health and Corporate Services Volunteer Program provides meaningful public engagement, develops effective partnerships, mobilizes appropriate volunteer and community resources, supports a positive working environment and enhances the WRHA's capacity to support and deliver quality services.

Volunteers are placed in the community, supporting a variety of programs within Public Health, Primary Care and Corporate.

Description of Duties:

To assist the WRHA Community Health Services program in engaging clients to share their perceptions on various aspects of care and services they receive. This will involve administering a telephone survey to clients who access services in the community and can include clients receiving Home Care, Primary Care, Public Health, and Mental Health services.

Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in health care is preferred.

  • Be able to maintain an unbiased position about the health care system.

  • Be physically capable of imputing and asking questions at the same time.

  • Comfortable using a computer, and internet.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate and engage clients in a friendly, supportive manner.

  • Ability to understand, give direction and express oneself in English in a clear, concise manner.

  • Ability to speak another language such as French is an asset.

  • Ability to follow directions and pay attention to details to provide consistency.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Organizational skills, conscientious, reliable.

Flexible Hours

Actual shifts are flexible but should take place once or twice a week for 3 to 4 hours during regular business hours Monday to Friday. Exact shifts will be coordinated between the volunteer and the site Placement Supervisor.


A minimum commitment of 3 months preferred.
