Volunteer Opportunity Details

Description of Duties:

FortWhyte Alive offers nearly 40 different guided school program options throughout the school year that bring classroom curriculum lessons to life. Offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring, there are opportunities for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students to participate in hands-on learning experiences relating to science, social studies, or physical education/adventure.

We are looking for volunteers to guide school groups on their FortWhyte Alive nature field trips. You don't have to be an expert to guide students through a nature program! Enthusiasm, customer service skills, time management, and training are the secrets to success in this volunteer role. We provide training that includes a 2-hour, program-specific training session, printed program outline, sample activity schedule, and quick reference card. We also provide seasonal professional development workshops on topics of interest to our volunteers and staff.

Commitment is one-half day per week for fun interactive school programs at varied levels/ages (K-12). We look forward to seeing you on the trails!
