Organizational Description: Walk The Rainbow is a youth led, winnipeg based organization dedicated to destigmatizing 2sLGBTQ+ identities, and educating the community.

The goal of Walk The Rainbow is to take meaningful actions towards 2SLGBTQ+ issues. These actions include workshops, speeches, social media awareness, fundraising, and more.

Description of Duties:

  • Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings


  • Contribute to organization planning, oversight, and advisory


  • Developing and maintaining strong goals and visions for Walk The Rainbow


  • Assist in creating organization policies and Code of Conduct

  • Provide input and advice to members of the organization


  • Enhancing the public image of Walk The Rainbow


Note: Board directors have the opportunity to be elected into specific executive positions (ie. Director of Volunteers), more details will be provided upon recrutiment to the board.

   
Skills Required:

We are seeking passionate advocates who bring a unique set of skills, experiences, and perspectives to Walk The Rainbow. We are looking for individuals who will firmly advocate for the vision and cause of Walk The Rainbow, championing queer equity. Directors must possess strong teamwork and leadership skills, and be passionate about youth.


Assests of a board director include;


- An eagerness to participate in monthly board meetings, share your ideas, and be an active member


- A devotion to Walk The Rainbows' core values and mission


- Previous experience in leadership that lays the foundation for a successful board director


- A desire for social equity, and the motivation to create change

Board meetings will be held monthly (2 hours each, with the exception of the AGM which may be held longer). Scheduling of board meetings will depend on the needs and committments of its members.


Specific committee meetings will be held seperately, and follow a unique schedule developed by its members.
