Organizational Description: Hood & Dagger Productions Inc. is Winnipeg's newest registered not-for-profit community theatre company. We produce live community theatre, specializing in thrillers, mysteries, and tales of adventure.

We work together to create a respectful and positive environment, and cast, crew, Board, and committee members are volunteers. We seek to provide opportunities to get involved, whatever your experience level.

Our vision is to Build Community through Community theatre. We aspire to create more than community theatre, but a community event, supporting local business, promoting community musicians, and also donating to a charity after each show.

Description of Duties:

The Community Connection Committee ("The Committee" or "CCC") is established by the Board of Hood and Dagger Productions ("H&D") as a Standing Committee to support H&D in its community outreach activities. The CCC shall develop, monitor, and action a framework for the establishment of community partners for each show and H&G generally, identify viable opportunities, provide strategic direction and advice, and take steps to action the plan. The CCC shall lead efforts to Build Community through Community Theatre by reviewing, developing, adopting, and implementing ideas and proposals. CCC Members shall be advocates for H&D.


It is the responsibility of the CCC, on behalf of the Board to:



  1. Develop and monitor a framework for strategic H&D community outreach activities, including any ethical considerations;

  2. Advise on community outreach priorities and plans, and their feasibility;

  3. Identify and approach opportunities for community partners (ex. music before each production, vendors in the lobby, restaurant night out, the donation or lending of props or set items for a show such as art or furniture, etc).

  4. Coordinate with the Show Production Committee (SPC) to ensure an alignment of potential community partners for each show;

  5. May work with Marketing and Public Relations Committee (MPC) and/or the Grant, Donor, and Sponsorships Committee (GDSC) on in-kind donations or sponsorships;

  6. Participate in potential community partner identification and qualification;

  7. Assist in "opening doors" to potential community partner prospects and in the stewardship of H&D's community partners;

  8. Actively participate in meetings, providing input, expressing ideas, brainstorming, and sharing innovative ideas;

  9. Ensure open communication with all relevant parties;

  10. Keep activities on schedule;

  11. Provide and / or confirm overall strategic direction for community partnerships at H&D;

  12. Regularly report to the Board on the CCC's activities; and

  13. Other matters or as requested by the Board.

Skills Required:

Community Connection Committee (CCC) members should collectively have a balance of skills, recent and relevant expertise, experience, and knowledge of the following:





    • Networking and community-minded thinking;

    • Strong commitment to H&D and to H&D's approach to Building Community through Community Theatre; and

    • Willingness to advocate for and proactively develop possible community relationships.

​​​​​​The Community Connection Committee (CCC) shall meet four to six times annually or more frequently as the CCC Chair deems necessary.
