Organizational Description: Hood & Dagger Productions Inc. is Winnipeg's newest registered not-for-profit community theatre company. We produce live community theatre, specializing in thrillers, mysteries, and tales of adventure.

We work together to create a respectful and positive environment, and cast, crew, Board, and committee members are volunteers. We seek to provide opportunities to get involved, whatever your experience level.

Our vision is to Build Community through Community theatre. We aspire to create more than community theatre, but a community event, supporting local business, promoting community musicians, and also donating to a charity after each show.

Description of Duties:

The Marketing and Public Relations Committee ("The Committee" or "MPC") is established by the Board of Hood and Dagger Productions ("H&D") as a Standing Committee to support H&D in its marketing and public relations activities. The MPC shall develop, monitor, and action a framework for the marketing of each show and H&G generally, identify viable opportunities to increase subscribers and followers, provide strategic direction and advice, and take steps to action the plan. The MPC shall lead marketing efforts by reviewing, developing, adopting, and implementing ideas and proposals. MPC Members shall be advocates for H&D.


It is the responsibility of the MPC, on behalf of the Board to:



  1. Develop and monitor a framework for H&D marketing activities, including any ethical considerations;

  2. Advise on marketing priorities and plans, and their feasibility;

  3. Identify potential media opportunities and reach out to them using an appropriate hook;

  4. Identify and approach opportunities for group sales, such as corporations and other organizations;

  5. Review marketing asset performance and provide input for improvement;

  6. Consider innovate ways to promote upcoming shows;

  7. Assist in "opening doors" to potential media partners and in the stewardship of H&D's existing media contacts;

  8. Communicate with the charity of choice for the upcoming show with information and assets they can use to help promote the show;

  9. May work with Community Connection Committee (CCC) and/or the Grant, Donor, and Sponsorships Committee (GDSC) on in-kind donations or sponsorships;

  10. Ensure open communication with all relevant parties;

  11. Keep activities on schedule;

  12. Actively participate in meetings, providing input, expressing ideas, brainstorming, and sharing innovative ideas;

  13. Provide and/or confirm overall strategic direction for marketing and public relations at H&D; and

  14. Regularly report to the Board on the MPC's activities; and

  15. Other matters or as requested by the Board.

Skills Required:

The Marketing and Public Relations Committee (MPC) members should collectively have a balance of skills, recent and relevant expertise, experience, and knowledge of the following:





    • Developing marketing plans and the implementation and monitoring of those plans;

    • Strong commitment to H&D and to H&D's approach to building community through community theatre; and

    • Willingness to advocate for and proactively develop possible media relationships and to directly contribute to awareness of H&D.

The Marketing and Public Relations Committee (MPC) shall meet four to six times annually or more frequently as the MPC Chair deems necessary.
