Description of Duties: | EDGE Skills Centre is a charitable, not-for-profit organization that has been providing English language, adult education, and career services to Winnipeg and St. Vital for over 34 years. EDGE Skills Centre is looking for Volunteer Board Members, including the position of Treasurer. Treasurer Roles and Responsibilities 1. Budget Oversight: - Monitor adherence to the budget and report variances to the board. 2. Financial Reporting: - Review financial reports to the board, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements (this is not currently reviewed - but could be). 3. Oversight of Bookkeeping and Record Keeping: - Oversee the maintenance of accurate financial records. - Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures for financial management. 4. Audit and Tax Compliance: - Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits. - Ensure timely filing of all tax returns and compliance with tax regulations.
5. Financial Policies and Procedures: - Develop, implement, and review financial policies and procedures. - Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. 6. Risk Management: - Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. 7. Board Engagement: - Serve as the financial liaison to the board, providing updates and insights. - Participate in board meetings and relevant committees 8. Strategic Planning: - Collaborate with board members and executive staff in strategic planning initiatives. - Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions. 9. Financial Education: - Educate board members and staff on financial issues and best practices. - Provide training on financial management and compliance. |
