Organizational Description: OCD Centre Manitoba was a non-profit started in 1995 to provide support for people in Manitoba experiencing obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and/or hoarding disorder. It is now a program under the CMHA Manitoba & Winnipeg!

We provide support and information to people experiencing OCD and/or hoarding disorder as well as family members, friends, professionals, and other community members. We also promote medical and social research regarding OCD and hoarding disorder.

We believe that those affected by OCD and hoarding disorder should have the opportunity for appropriate encouragement and support integrated with other proven treatment methods and services on their road to recovery.

Description of Duties:

Lead groups for people experiencing obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) or hoarding disorder. The groups focus on support, discussion, goal-setting, and other active methods to catalyze recovery.


Tasks will include:
- offering support via Zoom/in-person
- teaching CBT skills
- preparing discussion topics
- helping group members set goals
- setting your own goals to work on as examples for the groups


We are actively recruiting, though spots are limited. Positions are available as long as this opportunity is posted. Apply at any time.

   
Skills Required:

Leadership, active listening, and/or coaching skills are helpful, though none are needed for this position. Training will be provided to build any necessary skills.

Remote Volunteering

Various weekday evenings are available and volunteers are expected to do at least one night per month. Groups are 1.5 hours long and volunteers must be available at least 15 minutes before and after each group (2 hours total per group). Most groups are available over Zoom. Volunteers will have the choice of which groups they wish to facilitate, though spots are limited.
There may be opportunities to volunteer for other CMHA programs at different times while volunteering with the CMHA. These are all optional.
