Description of Duties:

Accountant - Position Open Until Filled


Submit your CV/Resume. We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as Organization Accountant. This role is essential to ensuring the financial health and transparency of our organization. The Volunteer Accountant with the possibility of transitioning to the board within a year. Responsibilities include:


Key Duties:




  1. Financial Recordkeeping:




    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income, expenses, and donations.



    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards specific to non-profits.




  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:




    • Collaborate with leadership to develop and manage annual budgets.



    • Prepare financial forecasts to support strategic planning and organizational goals.




  3. Grant and Fund Management:




    • Track the financial aspects of grant funding and ensure compliance with grant requirements.



    • Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds usage and reporting.




  4. Payroll and Accounts Payable/Receivable:




    • Process payroll and ensure timely payment to staff and contractors.



    • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.




  5. Financial Reporting:




    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for board meetings and audits.



    • Assist with the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory documentation.




  6. Audit and Internal Controls:




    • Support external auditors by providing required documents and reports.



    • Implement internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial accountability.




  7. Financial Advising:




    • Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial processes.



    • Advise on cost-effective strategies to achieve sustainability and growth.

Remote Volunteering

Audit consciousness and presenting for 2 hours at AGM.
Board meetings and preparation: 4 x per/year for 12 hours. Meeting with Chair and staff: 1 x every second month (6 hour per/year).
Chairing and preparing for Audit & Finance Committee meetings: 4 x per/year (8 hours)
