Description of Duties:

What is Variety's Bike Camp?

Variety's Bike Camp teaches individuals living with disabilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle using adapted bike equipment. We understand that the vast majority of people with disabilities never have the experience of independently riding a conventional two-wheel bicycle during their lifetime. Research shows that over 80% of people with Autism and 90% of people with Down syndrome never experience this thrill. Defying these odds is why we exist!

When: June 30th - July 4th and July 7th - July 11th, 2025

***NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IS NECESSARY***

There are 800 volunteer session times to fill, so please share with your friends and family!

Volunteer role:

Spotter: Walk/jog/run alongside a rider as they are learning to ride a bike during a 75-minute session (with short breaks). Ideally, you are asked to attend the same session for all 5 days, so you can work with the same rider each day. You will provide encouragement and physical support, as needed.

We encourage volunteers to commit to attending all 5 days of camp for the session(s) selected. We do understand this is not always a possibility and will welcome volunteers any days they can attend.
