Organizational Description: | The Bike dump is a volunteer-run community bicycle education space. We offer: -Tools and space to fix your bike -A stock of recycled bike frames and parts from which to build yourself a bike -Volunteers to help guide you through repairs, or with a bike-building project -Refurbished, recycled bicycles for sale on a sliding scale -Bicycle repair workshops We strive: -To make cycling - and bicycle repair knowledge - accessible to everyone -To organize ourselves transparently, democratically, and non-hierarchically -To offer creative alternatives to auto dependency and its consequences If you would like to be part of our family, show up to any open shift, and tell the volunteers present that you would like to volunteer. We will show you around and you will know right away if this is the sort of volunteer opportunity you desire. |

Description of Duties: | Monday Night is for Women, Queer, and Trans at the Bike Dump. Our aim is to create a safer space for women, queer, and trans folks who may feel uncomfortable during regular Bike Dump times. Monday Nights are meant to encourage leadership amongst folks who aren't always taking on such roles. People can be "hands on" in ways they can find satisfying. If you are interested, and are a woman or queer identifying person, please email us at winnipegbikedump@gmail.com We are very desirous of finding enough volunteers to reopen this night, as it is currently on hiatus. |
Skills Required: | Being a people person with prior mechanical experience is helpful, however we also offer regular educational workshops to help build any skills you may need! |
Skills Gained/Related Careers: | Access a great community of like minded bike nerds and learn much about old bikes that have been thrown out along the way : ) |
