We are a not-for-profit organization that offers a wide range of programs and services to support individuals and their families.
St.Amant programs include a large residence for complex-care, more than 50 community sites and homes, the St.Amant Research Centre, the St.Amant School and River Road Child Care, a community child-care centre. We offer effective programs for children with autism and also for families who care for an individual with a developmental disability at home.
We strive to enhance the quality of life and self-determination for the thousands of individuals and families we serve each year. We are also a member of the Catholic Health Network. |

The Volunteer Transportation Driver is responsible for directly driving individuals supported, staff and volunteers on recreational activities. Drivers must ensure all passengers are provided with safe transport. Drivers must follow their driving schedules, maintain regular communication with a Unit Supervisor, report vehicle maintenance issues to staff working, who will report to Property and Vehicles, and participate in regular training sessions. Drivers will abide by the policies and procedures of St.Amant. Drivers are responsible for acting in a way that will not put him/herself or others at risk.
We have found a benchmark of Level 7 or higher works well for our volunteer placements in reading; writing; listening and speaking. If a successful match is made between your skills and abilities, Volunteer Services will offer you a volunteer position. If you decide to accept the offer, we will discuss a start date with you after completing the orientation; completion of references checks and screening.
All volunteer placements are done through the volunteer office including reassignments. Volunteering is an exciting and challenging experience. Volunteers are highly valued members of the St.Amant team and contribute to each program area.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a volunteer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable the safety of the individuals with disabilities through transportation. While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer may be required to walk, sit, stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, lift, and carry. The ability to write clearly and legibly may be required. Must be able to secure seatbelts and comfortable pumping gas.

Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check will be done at St.Amant for no charge to the volunteer. (We do not offer reimbursement for those who are placed in our volunteer program and have done the CRC, CAR & AAR on their own). |
Skills Required: |
-Minimum 25 years old; shows good level of maturity -Valid Drivers' License Class 4 -Strong interpersonal skills -Outgoing, enthusiastic and creative -Must show responsibility in meeting commitment and being reliable -Reliable, flexible, and able to deal with city traffic and multiple trips in a relaxed but efficient manner -Strong attention to detail and the ability to work closely and constructively with others -Flexible to change -Acceptable Criminal Record, Adult Abuse Registry and Child Abuse Registry Checks -Acceptable reference checks |
