Organizational Description: Serves as a community branch mandated under provincial legislation to support and strengthen families, and work together with communities for the protection and care of children and the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Volunteer Connections welcomes community members who wish to enhance Branch services by filling volunteer roles such as Mentors, Drivers, Tutors, Knitters, and Special Event Volunteers.

Description of Duties:

- Be a positive role model
- Help support a child/youth who needs encouragement
- Help develop a child's/youth's self-esteem, and social/life skills
- Help the child/youth build trust in an adult, and an optimistic view of the future
- Introduce the child/youth to constructive leisure pursuits

   
Skills Required:

- Over the age of 18
- Understanding of potential client issues and have a nonjudgmental approach
- Good rapport and creativity with children/youth
- Mature judgment, thoughtful problem-solving, patience and flexibility
- Team player with WCFS staff and client family
- Volunteers are required to be double vaccinated as per COVID health protocols to help keep children/youth and families safe
