We are very proud of the work we have accomplished in our training department and we are excited to move forward and assess all of the opportunities that are now available to help us continue to grow and to support the non-profit sector in its professional development.
Over the past year, you've been introducing new training and development opportunities. What new events do you have planned this fall?
Meeting the needs of our clients is my number one priority. We offer workshops in the areas of Capacity Building, Volunteer Management and Board Governance. We heard loud and clear that funding is top of mind; I've scheduled a webinar to introduce different fundraising strategies, plus we have a new workshop with fundraising expert, Mike Duerksen, called What Donors Want - How to Find, Attract and Retain Donors. I have also heard that volunteer recruitment, particularly youth volunteers, is a priority for many organizations so we're offering a workshop in December led by Marianne Cerilli called Engaging and Empowering Youth Volunteers.
Last year you piloted some new programs and events. Will any of them be offered again?
I'm really proud of our new Emerging Leaders Program that we piloted last spring. It's a program specifically designed to build leadership skills for those who are taking the next steps to pursue or advance their management career in the non-profit sector. We received excellent reviews and suggestions for improvement, we are happy to be offering the entire program again this fall. We also received a lot of positive feedback on a special event we held to help volunteer engagement specialists build their network. To continue this support, we're holding a Hybrid Conference in October. This conference focuses on how technology trends are transforming the way we engage volunteers. Keep watching for more networking events coming up throughout the year!
Our motto this past year was 'putting Manitoba back into our name'. Do you have any workshops offered around the province?
Through the partnerships we built around the province I plan to offer more workshops in communities other than Winnipeg with plans almost finalized for Gimli, Brandon, Carman and Winkler. We've also started to explore using webinar technology so rural participants can join workshops in Winnipeg remotely. I understand that the need for training exists across our province and I'm committed to build a provincial network of partners and facilitators and to use technology so professional development is available in all regions.
We look forward to seeing you all this fall as we kick off what is sure to be another successful year for VM Training! To see our full training calendar please click here!
