Organizational Description: The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's (WRHA) Community Health and Corporate Services Volunteer Program provides meaningful public engagement, develops effective partnerships, mobilizes appropriate volunteer and community resources, supports a positive working environment and enhances the WRHA's capacity to support and deliver quality services.

Volunteers are placed in the community, supporting a variety of programs within Public Health, Primary Care and Corporate.

Description of Duties:

Assisting the WRHA Community Health Services program in engaging clients to share their perceptions on various aspects of care and services they receive. This will involve administering a telephone survey to client who access services in the community and can include Home Care, Home Care Nursing, Primary Care and Public Health.

   
Skills Required:

  1. Previous experience in health care is preferred.

  2. Must attend an orientation/training session.

  3. Be able to maintain an unbiased position about the health care system.

  4. Be physically capable of inputting and asking questions at the same time.

  5. Comfortable using a computer, and internet.

  6. Effective interpersonal communication skills.

  7. Ability to communicate and engage clients in a friendly, supportive manner.

  8. Ability to understand, give direction and express oneself in English in a clear, concise manner.

  9. Ability to speak another language such as French is an asset.

  10. Ability to follow directions and pay attention to details to provide consistency.

  11. Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  12. Organizational skills.

  13. Conscientious, Reliable.

  14. Abide by the WRHA's policy on confidentiality including the Personal Information Act (PHIA)

Shifts: Must attend a training session before starting the role. Actual shifts are flexible but should take place once or twice a week for 3 to 4 hours during regular business hours Tuesdays and Thursdays. Exact shifts will be coordinated between the volunteer and the site Placement Supervisor.
